Let the mowing begin!

Some of the goofy things first time homeowners get excited about! Here is Chris moments after mowing our yard for the first time :) I think I was more excited than he was but as always, Chris was a good sport and let me "capture" the moment!

Police Visit~

Tonight was an interesting night for sure. Like every other day, Chris and I worked late which caused for a late start with a run to Lowe's for rock to finish filling up the retaining wall. We had enough Sat. to have the fountain set up while we had the help but was nervous to leave it without it being done. Chris learned very quickly that it was a pain to shovel the rock all out of the truck then wheelbarrowing it up to location on Sat. So this is what brought us to Lowe's, to buy the rock via bag. Chris being the hard worker that he is continued to work after dark. He put a head lamp on and continued pulling the bags of rock out of the trunk of the car which was parked in our garage. After Chris finished up around 10:30, he came in and showered getting ready for bed. Sat down for dinner just in time for a really loud knock or shall I say pounding on our front door! I seriously thought that we were going to get robbed or something bad happened. Chris was just as nervous to approach the door, so he put some approachable clothing on while responding to the 2nd or 3rd pounding through our intercom system asking who it was. They responding saying the Police Department but it was said so fast that we did not catch it so Chris asked again and it was more clear! Only we were still unsure of what was going on so we looked through our blinds to be sure it really was the police! Sure enough there were 4 cop cars pulled in front of our home. We opened the door and they wanted verification of who we were and if we owned this home! Afterwords they told us that someone called in thinking that we were being robbed! That they were seeing someone with a head lamp entering and exiting our garage while no lights were on! Ha, what a relief! One, our garage was still open with the coincidence that a bolt or screw came loose which was preventing the door to fully close. Two, our front porch light was burned out. And Three, we have dark wooden blinds so looking from the outside in, you really can't tell that all the lights are on inside the house! We laughed it off and quickly received several text messages from neighbors worried about us and asked if everything was okay since we were bombarded with cop cars! Chris did say that he noticed someone who walked by but he thought he walked out of the neighborhood not knowing who it was. We have yet to discover who called it in but it had to have been someone who did not know us since we have been working on our yard for the last month and our neighbors know our crazy long work schedule causing later nights! One thing I learned tonight is that we live in a very good neighborhood that looks after us!

1st Yard Sale ~GNO~ & Grass!

Amanda came up with the idea to have a neighborhood yard sale soon before the upcoming baby arrivals enter the world for her and Brooke! I honestly did not think that this was something that I would be apart of for a couple reasons. One, we just moved in last Fall and I was pretty sure that I gave away everything that I would not want to bring over into our new home and probably a bit more considering we have yet to purchase another dinning room table... and two, I am very much an anti clutter wife that there is no way that I would have anything to sell nor have I ever tried to sell anything before. It was always easier to make the trips to the DI and drop it off. So I told Fran a few weeks ago or so while she was "decluttering" their Draper home. It was a few runs to the DI short but she had a few things towards the end of the move. To my surprise, Chris and I decided to also sell a few items in our home last minute. So here I am, ready for my first yard sale experience! Tuesday evening Amanda had all that were participating come over to help make signs and pitch in for the paper etc. She had treats and it was great socializing time! I am excited and received a few pointers!

Friday night was an official GNO evening with a great turn out which surprised me because of the yard sale the following morning. I know that I was not the only one still needing to pull things together. After meeting at Amy's we carpooled over to Koi for dinner in American Fork. Christina and I had a meal split for us for two reasons: One the large noodle dish portion sizes and two, I always share a meal with Chris and she can't finish hers either. Mental note, this would be a perfect return on a date with Chris :) After spending a couple hours eating and socializing, we traveled over to the dollar store for treats and finished the night at the movies for Letters to Juliet. It was half and half on likes vs. dislikes... I however love chick flicks with little expectations so I was happily entertained surrounded with good company :)

Today was the BIG day! Chris and I woke up a little late but thanks to my wonderful husband, he already tagged all our items with prices last night so I just needed to put it all in the car to take over to Cassie's since we both did not have much to sell. Cassie's mother and brother/wife also joined us so together we had quit the selection for buyers! It was a ton of fun, we all got a little too much sun but luckily, Cassie's home faced West so we were shaded by the morning sunrise. Chris and I made more than enough which made the whole thing worth it since I had to do it myself while he worked on the retaining wall filling it with dirt and rock. The time flew by so I almost forgot my nail appointment at 1:15 for a fill but made it just in time. Chris however had to stay at our house for the laying of the saud! Yep, our Sprinklers were finished yesterday along with prepping the ground so they returned to lay our saud which was delivered this morning! It was last minute which caused a crazy busy day! I can't believe it all worked out in the end but now we get to enjoy having grass and a decluttered home again!

Annie's Graduation!

Chris and I missed out on attending Annie's High School graduation but we were able to take a longer lunch to join her, family and friends from the Draper neighborhood for a lunch at the Spaghetti Factory in celebration of the graduates! We were happy to be apart of her special day and support her in her accomplishment! Annie has really grown this past year and it has been a real joy spending more time together and talking! She really is dedicated and a hard worker! I know that she will do well at UVU and I am sure I can speak for both Chris and I that we wish her all the best in her future years! She could really do anything that she puts her mind to so we are excited to see what she decides to do! We love you Annie!!!
