Yay for Surprise Visits!

I received a call from my brother Tyrel after church with the hopes that he and his cute little family could visit us and see our home before they returned to Oregon! Jessi had not seen our newly built home since she had just had Harli days before when my family came for Thanksgiving. Without hesitation of course we accepted their last of the minute notification to come down for a BBQ, games and etc.

When they arrived, I couldn't believe how much Harli and little Man had grown! It was such a joy for Chris and I to have these cute little kids in our home! The food was amazing as Chris pulled out our new BBQ grill which I love! I loved watching and seeing my brother be a father to his two children as Ty got into things and did what 2 year old's do! My brother was as patient and kind as he has always been. Yet when little Ty needed a timeout, I was so impressed to see how my brother talked to his child about why he was in timeout before letting him play again with the gentle and patient voice that he has. I want to have those traits as a parent, it was a perfect example for me.

Later on Chris' sisters, Annie and Britt came over to also see my Niece and Nephew. Britt loved holding baby Harli the whole time while we all watched a movie! I can't believe how lucky I am to have the love and support of both families! It wasn't till around 11pm that all left and I loved every minute of their time! I am going to miss them :( I love having family time and children in the home...

Week #4~

Tonight was the 4th week in a row that Chris and I have been visiting Grandma and Grandpa Wilson. After the 1st visit in which I blogged about earlier this month, I really meant it when I said I did not want the visit to end. So we have been returning to Paysen spending our Friday date nights with our lovely grandparents! I can speak for both Chris and I when I say that these visits surpass any other activity that we could have done otherwise. We both have thoroughly enjoyed our visits wither it was running into the BYU basketball games or having Grandpa retell his stories of the war lol! Tonight, Aunt Lisa along with our cousins, Garrett and Shelby Steele were also visiting on there return to close on their home before they returned to Washington State where Garrett recently changed jobs to. We are certainly going to miss seeing them and their two little girls during the Wilson get togethers :( Aunt Lisa was also in town to take engagement pictures of her son Geoffrey and his soon to be wife!

I sure hope Chris and I continue to make an effort to visit our Grandparents while we still have them here on earth. I have emotionally developed a greater love for these two people as I have learned more about them on a more personal note. I see so much of Fran in her mother and I feel so blessed to be apart of this family!

Little Man turnes 2!

My one and only nephew turns the big double digit number 2 today! I can't tell you enough how much joy this little guy has brought into our family! Entering a decently large family that he did, we absolutely love having little ones around again! Having Tyrel, Jessi and their two kiddos living at my parents place has given my parents and siblings the experience of being grandparents, aunts and uncles a closeness that most don't get. I feel that I miss out on SO much being the only one away from the fam :( It is however such a joy for me to hear the sounds of little Ty and his sister Harli in the background of phone calls, web cam chats and Skype! So I think I can speak for my whole family of our gratitude to have little man enter the world and into this crazy family of ours! Happy Birthday Ty, it has been so fun to watch you grow and become more independent over the last 2 years!

Birthday Celebrations!

This month is a popular month for birthdays in the Wester family! Tues. the 9th was my mother's 48th birthday and my older brother Tyrel had his 27th birthday yesterday, Wed. the 10th! These are two very special people to me who I am very grateful to have in my family. Tyrel has always been a brother who looked out for me throughout my entire life. From the very beginning my mother told us that Tyrel would walk me to my primary class hand in hand to make sure I did not get lost or scared as I was super shy growing up and that was how our friendship was for the following years. I don't feel that Tyrel was ever embarrassed to have me around with his friends up through our High School years etc. Tyrel was a brother that I admire in the sense that he is so loving and kind to everyone that he is in contact with. I can't remember a single moment throughout my life that Tyrel was ever mad or caused a fight with anyone. He was one who always tried breaking up any tension in our home.

Many of these traits come from my mother. My mom is the sweetest, most even tempered person I have ever known. All my life I have always remembered my mom to be a frequent Temple attendee which always made me want to do my best to have the home be a nice "merging" environment for her when she came home. If it wasn't and us kids were not getting along. I remember it being hard to return after having such a peaceful warm and wonderful experience. My mom is a mother that I hope to be like some day when I have children to raise of my own. She was all of our best friends and her family and the Gospel are the most important things in her life. Her soft heart who always gave and gave made it near impossible to ever raise our voices at her or talk back at her during the teenage years. This was a huge blessing to me. During the years that most children pull away from their parents. I grew closer and closer to my mother not wishing to replace our friendship with any other girlfriend or boyfriend for that matter. So, today I wish again for the happiest of happy birthdays to both my Mom and Brother!

Sweet and Sour~

Thursday Chris and I received notice that Grandma Wilson has Multiple Melanoma Bone Cancer. She is in excruciating pain and that it has already filled most of her body.... Unfortunately for Chris' side of the family, this means that we will not have her with us for much longer. Fran being the wonder mother that she is, has been so good at reminding us of our grandparents and has kept us updated on their birthdays, health situations, etc. This has allowed Chris and I to stay in touch via phone calls and or visits to both Grandma Whitchurch and Grandma and Grandpa Wilson when they need to be remembered and or recognized. So Friday night, Aaron came with Chris and I to visit our dear grandmother. I have to say that this was one visit that I did not wish to end :( Grandpa was excited to show us the metal and certificate received from the Federal Government in honer of his service in the Navy in World War 2! He went on with several stories that had happened back in the day including his rivalry High School days! I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and was happy to see that grandma was not feeling to much pain that evening. I was grateful for this time we spent with them both and grateful to see that they were thrilled to have us surprise them with a visit on a Friday night!

Today was another day of sleeping in, grocery shopping, window shopping at some antique/home decor shops near by and visiting with Chris' family before Chris dropped me back off at home on his way down to Provo for some Texas Holdem playing with the guys! It was all for fun with the prize of a Best Buy gift card for the winner. I guess a friend of Chris' from work does this on the first Sat. of every month with a turn out of 20-50 people and it looks like Chris will be going again next month with how much fun he had socializing with the "guys" :) I on the other hand did not know what to do with myself, so I turned up the music and sang on the top of my lungs since no one was around to hear me while I decided to trim up my layers and curl my hair for the first time since I cut it short almost 2 years ago! I then decided to make Chris some more of my bean dip that he loves for his return 4 hours later! It was okay though cause he still text me throughout the evening which meant to me that I was still on his mind :) I also got to web cam my family! It was a joy because my family has been working on playing the piano since they purchased one last December! I loved hearing and seeing Abby play with BOTH hands to "The Chariot of Fire" music!!! I could not believe how quickly she learned the first part with no music at all. I guess our Uncle Brett (dad's brother) has been teaching her when he visits on Saturdays. She has picked up hearing the music just like our daddy! All in all it was a good evening and I got to "see" my family!

Dental Update~

Not sure what to think here.... I spent another morning at the dentist to get the "partial crown" put in after receiving a root canal which went well I suppose. The thing that I don't understand is how my old dentist who worked on my past fillings as a child got away with doing such a terrible job! It is now costing me as we "open" up my old fillings to replace with the "white" to find that there is also decay happening in my lower tooth! So two hours later and just a millimeter away from needing a second root canal is flat out scaring me to see what is under my fillings on the other side of my mouth!!! It's as if the metal fillings were just placed on top as a cover and I can't figure out why people or shall I say dentists get away with this!

Now that I vented a little, I fear that dental work for me is not over but maybe the beginning in breaking my bank and causing MORE pain... SIGH... :(

On a happier note, It's my Daddy's 52nd Birthday today and I was happy to be able to talk with him today! I love him so much and wish him all the best in this next year! As much as I love our long phone calls, it would sure be a whole lot nicer to have them in person! I can't wait to see what is in store for him and my family! Time will tell :)
