Lake Blanche Hike

Chris, Aaron and Josh took James out on a father son overnight camp out for a Father's day gift from last year. Chris will have to share with you the experience they had since it sounded like a really fun hike! Chris enjoyed spending some quality time with his dad and liked listening to some fun stories that he had not heard previously. I am so grateful for this time they took to spend together and for Chris to take a day off work to step out and do what he loves most!

Spanish Fork Rodeo!

It was the time of year again that I was able to wear my cowboy hat and my cowgirl boots... not that I need a rodeo to wear my boots anyway lol!!! I love love love the rodeo! Why, well I love everything about it! It is a wonderful childhood memory of mine going to the rodeo every summer with my family and I can't wait to take my children in the years to come! I will love dressing them in there hats and boots ha ha :) I love the horses, the competition, sheep riding, the bull riding, and the country music! I couldn't come up with one thing that I don't enjoy at a good rodeo! This year we went with James, Fran, aunt Diana and Dan with our cousins Chelsea, her boyfriend Jono with little Channing and Garrett, Shelby with their two little girls Brooklyn and Chanelle!

Draper Days Parade

This year Fran and James joined Chris and I at the Draper Days Parade! It was a very pleasant and we had fun watching all the children running out for the candy etc. It was like Halloween in mid summer! We also sat across from our good friends, the Miller family, Dustin, Andrea and their little Avery. I love these types of summer activities!

After the parade was over, Chris and I joined James and Fran for breakfast at Ihop even though it was practically lunch time lol. We really enjoyed spending time and talking about misc. things that are happening and Fran's recent California trip with aunt Diana! What fun those two sister's have when they are together!!! Once we returned, we continued to spend the day with the family! I loved it and Chris loved being with his brother's. We then decided to go to Draper park and walk around the booths etc. Afterwords Chris and I went over to the Miller's place to finish our visit with Dustin and Andrea whom we haven't seen much of over the last 6 months or so and then finished the night off with James and Fran for the fireworks!!! What more can I ask then a wonderful day with family and friends!!!

Grandpa Mitchell's Birthday

Today after work I drove up to Salt Lake to wish my grandpa Mitchell a Happy Birthday and give him a updated family picture of the Wester family from their June visit. He was very grateful for the framed picture and seemed to of had a wonderful day with aunt Cindy and receiving all the phone calls from all my other aunt's, uncle and family. I loved chatting with grandpa and aunt Cindy for the couple hours I was there. I am grateful for Cindy, grandpa seems to be happy and cheerful with her there. I know that it has been a good thing for him having someone living there after Chris and I got married. Ted was always my favorite grandpa and living with him for two years was a good experience for me. I loved listening to his stories of his childhood years and his experience in raising a family. I learned so much and am truly grateful for that experience. Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Josh's Birthday!

Although Josh's birthday is tomorrow, today Chris and I met up with the Whitchurch family at NYPD pizza in Draper to celebrate a day early! This worked out for me since my Grandpa's is tomorrow as well! It was not quit New York pizza but it was the next best thing ;) Afterwords we finished off with the gifts, the I love yous, what I wish for yous and a wonderful video that Josh edited of him and some of his friends on a recent California road trip. It was so so fun to see! To get a car full of boys on a road trip I think is the most entertaining video I have seen in a long time! I was happy to see how much fin they had! We love having Josh in the family who has so much talent and adds so much humor to our conversations! Chris has really enjoyed all the time he has spent with him over the last year he has been back from his NY mission. There is nothing better then family relationships! Happy Birthday Josh!

West Desert Campout!

Yesterday Chris and I decided to go out to the West Desert for a day of camp. It was 3 summers ago since Chris worked doing Wilderness Therapy for Troubled Teens which he quit to date me and has longed to take me out there to have the experience and knowledge of how they would camp.

Again it has been 3 years for Chris and he never was the driver of the vehicles that brought them out so lets just say we were going on memory with there being no time to get a map for that area. I had NO idea what was out there. I thought it was flat and thought no one lived past the Ranches. I was wrong! There is actual civilization clear out in mid nowhere with Mountains and tons of sage brush! The sunset was so beautiful and the drive was pleasant!!! That of course was until we turned off the road "in my mind WAY too soon," which I discovered on our way back home! Chris had a lot of fun driving his father's truck on the dirt roads that we drove for a good hour or more trying to reach this particular Mountain side that we never did get to. It was now dark and we felt our eyes playing tricks on us since we thought we were seeing fire's in the far distance but ended up being cars? Then we started driving along a railroad track which we felt was a bit crazy to see before we hit a main road!!! At that point we had no idea where we were since it was not where Chris thought we were! None the less we continued west and came up from the South end of the last gas station that Chris remembered in a town called Vernon! We passed through "town" and when we saw the lights of Dugway in the distance we new we were out far enough to make camp.

It is now 11pm and Chris is still determined to do things the old fashioned way! We hung the tarp up using the Juniper trees in replace of a perfectly good tent that could keep me "safe" from bugs. We then walked around in search of some good sage branches to carve a bow drill which needed a spindle, rope, drill board and a flat rock to use as a top rock. Chris put it all together but we could not find a rock that would work. With it being just after midnight and with grumbling tummies, Chris pulled out the matches! Matches!!! If I would have known, I would have convinced him to show me the old fashion way of starting a fire in the morning! None the less I picked the one thing that would be cooked the quickest! Chris wanted to prepare the tomato soup which I did not have the patience for. I pulled out the hot dogs to later find out that he did not bring ketchup or mustard so lets say they were a bit bla. I was already done with my hot dogs and since Chris' soup was not warm yet, he ate my other prepared hot dog. The one thing about camping is that you will eat just about anything! So when Chris accidently grabbed one toamto and one cream of mushroom (FYI- I will need to seperate the different caned soups) and mixed them together with a touch of seasoning, it made a VERY interesting taste! Then while eating, we spotted a beatle that was masive and the ugliest spider EVER! It was just as big with EXTRA arms!!! Lets just say I could not let Chris remove the light from the ground untill I made it safe into the back of the truck! I was not going to sleep under a tarp on the same ground at that point and I hope to be able to say that I never will!

Unfortunantly I will not be able to camp the way Chris loves to camp but at least he will always get me out there with my tent :)

Foundation completed!

I thought I would update everyone on the progress of our home! After the hole was dug, the footing were put in place and the sides of the foundation was done. They water proofed the foundation, added the window wells and filled in the dirt around the house leveling it all out. This last week they completed the plumbing and filled in the floor of the house and driveway! Above are picture's of what it looks like now! Yay for progress :)

4th of July!

Today is one of my husbands favorite holiday! We love every opportunity we have to gather with family creating new memories. Today we went to the parade with Chris' family which was fun! We of all people ran into Chris' preschool teacher!!! How fun it was for her to see Chris all grown up with a wife!
Once we returned from the parade, we listened to music that related to our Independence Day and cooked up great food with Fran's famous potato salad. After we ate we all went swimming which was a lot of fun! We even got the dog in the pool ha ha! The weather turned out so beautifully which we were so grateful for. Once we were all worn out from swimming, we went down stairs and watched the movie Independence Day!!!
After the movie was over it was now time for Chris' favorite moment.....Firework time!!! The thing I love most about this is watching Chris, Aaron and Josh lite all the fireworks while the girls and parents sit back and enjoy the fabulous show :) Moments like this excite me for children. Chris will be a wonderful dad as he is a wonderful husband for me!!!

Tetanus Shot :(

This week has been a rough week for Chris while fighting a cold. Today our work allowed us all to go home as soon as our department hit there goal! We were all so stoked about it and I new Chris would love to go home early and get the rest he needs. It was a great way to begin the long holiday weekend when we left at 3pm. We called the doctor to find that they were not open on the 3rd but we both lucked out in getting the last available slots for our doctors. Chris got the antibiotics he needed while I had my check up. All was well until my doctor asked when I had my last Tetanus shot! Yuck, if you know me you know that I hate needles and getting shots! I replied not knowing the last time trying to get out of it. She asked if it was within the last 5 years and I replied probably not knowing that it was well over. I have lived in Utah for 6 years and I know it did not happen here. When she told me I was getting the Tetanus shot I told her I would pass, maybe next year. She laughed and told me she was sending in the nurse. I desperately got called my mom before the nurse came in to see if she could tell me when I received my last Tetanus shot in hopes to say that it was in the last 10 years. Sadly enough my mom laughed at me and told me I was over due. I was 12 years old and at that point the nurse was back in the room so I HAD to have it :( I will admit the shot was not bad but the after effects were!
